Through a series of spotlight talks by NGV curators and specialists in Japanese fashion and cultural history, learn about exquisite garments, rare artworks, and masterful textile techniques as we journey through Japanese history and style.

👘 ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Kimono designs and Japanese style have inspired global art, design and fashion since Japan re-opened to the world in the mid nineteenth century. Kimono, on display from 4 June – 5 October 2025, displays historically significant and visually dynamic examples of costume and fashion from Japanese history, and establish a creative lineage to the most experimental and innovative fashion designers of today.
